My family and I started keeping the Sabbath six weeks ago. I am so
grateful we made that decision.
experience and why we just started keeping the Sabbath. So here it
goes . . . I grew up Southern Baptist and my husband grew up Independent Baptist.
He changed to Southern Baptist about twelve years ago (and we meet at
our church). I worked at our church as a secretary for many years until I had my
first child. My husband has been working there as a full-time media
minister almost seven years. So our ties there are great and our
friendships are close. We love our church family and they love and
support us. A few years ago my husband and I started to feel an incompleteness to
our spiritual lives. We have always been taught that the Old
Testament is strictly to point us to Jesus and the commandments are
just to show us our sin. We also learned that we are now under God’s
grace and don’t need to worry about any laws or commands. Through an in-depth personal study of God’s Word, we felt convicted to
follow ALL of God’s ways. We just weren’t seeing any proof that God
suddenly changed who He was or what He wants for us. We also saw that
the New Testament Christians continued to strive to keep God’s laws.
Verse after verse in both Old and New Testament teach this truth. The
Bible is one whole truth that ties together completely. I am thankful
that God led us to His truth through His Word. When we felt convicted to start keeping His Sabbath, we didn’t know
anyone else who did. We didn’t know of places or groups in town who
met to worship on Sabbath. Since then we have found only two groups,
one Messianic Jewish home church and one Seventh-Day Adventist church.
We had connections with someone in the home church, so we have
attended their Bible study. There is no childcare, so I found it very
hard to get anything out of service because I was so busy caring for
little ones. We contacted the other church, but have yet to hear back
from them. We also don’t have the option of not attending our church on Sunday.
My husband works every service. His job is our only source of income.
And honestly, we have not felt a conviction to leave our church. We
have been praying and continue to pray for God’s direction on where to
worship and fellowship with fellow believers. We feel certain that God is in control and will make it clear when it
is time to move on. He will provide another job for my husband and
another place of fellowship. We pray that in the meantime, God can
use us to make a difference right where we are. I wanted to keep this blog to record my experience and find others who
were willing to take the Sabbath challenge. Along the way, I have
been constantly encouraged by my readers! Many of you have kept the
Sabbath all or most of your lives. You have been a source of
inspiration and information to me! Thank you! Lisa G.
Lisa, I am sorry to hear that you received no response from the Seventh Day Adventist Church that you contacted and would encourage you to try again. I was raised as a Seventh Day Adventist and when I left the church at the age of 16, I really did not consider belonging to any other. I have recently rejoined the Church and truly believe that a key point in the last days will concern the Sabbath. I have searched Scripture and not found any Biblical reason for God’s Sabbath to have been changed or done away with. In fact, the 4th Commandment states very clearly what day is to be kept holy and why Gos set it apart for us. If none of the other Commandments have been changed or made unnecessary, why would the 4th have been? In addition, Jesus, His diciples, and the new Church in Acts, all kept the Sabbath. I admire you for following the convictions of The Holy Spirit and your decision to wait & let God use you in the Church where you are. Perhaps part of your ministry is to show new light to those you love. If you have time to read (it’s hard when you have young ones!), I recommend “THE GREAT CONTROVERSY” and “THE DESIRE OF AGES” written by Ellen G. White; in-depth and inspirational book about the history of the Sabbath and the life of Jesus. If you have any questions, please contact me on facebook or by email. I pray that the LORD continue to bless you and your family! It has been a pleasure to hear your testimony Yours In Christ, Laurie
well Im not that much different then you because Ive been keeping Gods sabbaths and laws for awhile but my husband just started this yr and was like u and ur husband and he work on the sabbath and everything was fine til he got baptize and that when God started letting him know that the sabbath was his and to not scare u but me and my husband joe have seen his life in danger for disobeying the sabbath not saying that this will happen to yall but ive seens it happen to me and him so be very carefull to get more understanding also if u want im open for phone calls if u chose to or emails of questions location of church homes and bible studies and a Q&A section and how and where to do the feast so im hear if you need a sista in christ that can relate to u and how u feel check out my page and im also on skpe as shorty33781 im only 5’1 that y its shorty but any way I pray that God’s love allow you to know everything he wants u to know God speed my friend Cherelle&Joe
Praise God for He is good and worthy of all praise!I love reading your blogs. It brings me so much joy to read how God was touching your husband and your heart to dig deeper in Gods word. No religion/church will take us to Heaven but when we choose to live the way God ask us to live, that is giving up what we want and doing what God wants us to do. Having a true relationship with God we yearn to seek the truth. How is your church family treating your decision is keeping the Sabbath as the day of rest? Have you spoken to others about your choice in keeping the Sabbath?I currently live with my sister and her family who are baptist and it is difficult at times in regards to why I keep the Sabbath and they are always try to do all activities on Saturday. I am always open to hear peoples reasons to why they worship or follow a certain religion. When it contradicts to what the bible says, not what man says but the bible I can’t just change knowing what God says in His word. To keep the peace at home, I stay quiet but is that even right? I believe so hardly that the way we present ourselves speaks so much louder than speaking out at times. What kind of advice would you give me in respect that I currently live with my loving family who is baptist. I love them and respect their decision. What should I do or say ? I have come also to just pray, pray for my family for them to one day see it for themselves and have that conviction to keep the Sabbath day. God bless you and your family! thank you for your blog.
Hi Lisa… I have attached my story here and hope it is a blessing to you as it was to me… I was a born again Christian for seven years memorizing scripture when the Lord spoke to me about the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. I decided to make that change in my life back in the early eighties. God bless you for taking a stand for what you are firmly convicted in your heart is His truth!! I would love to have you as a friend on FB too!!
Your blog has been a great reminder and inspiration to me. You have inspired me to be more diligent in our Sabbath keeping in our home. It IS a blessing, and we all feel so much better prepared to take on the upcoming week after we keep it as it was meant to be kept. I would like to recommend that even if you do not hear back from the Seventh Day Adventist church in your area, please check out the information online, or start the series at Amazing Facts.com. Keep studying, and allow God to lead you.
I pray you look at these resources. I was a Seventh-day Adventist all my life till two years ago. If all you are looking for is a place to keep the old testament sabbath, then I encourage you to consider going elsewhere. Saturday sabbath keeping is not all that this organization subscribes to. They believe many heresys and have a false prophet who taught that Bible eschatology is completely based on the sabbath and those who worship on Sunday will go to hell because they worship the image of the beast. They believe that in the end of time sunday worshipers will hunt, persecute and kill Sabbath keepers. They believe that Jesus is currently doing an investigation of His followers to see who is worthy of heaven. They call it the investigative judgement. They believe that the entire purpose of humanity is to vindicate God (heresy) before the watching universe and this all comes completely from the visions of a false prophet. Please, check out this link too: http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/cult.shtmlPlease please please read these articles and check out this website:http://lifeassuranceministries.org/proclamation/2011/2/greatcontroversy.htmlhttp://www.lifeassuranceministries.com/Books.htmlhttp://www.formeradventist.com/forum.htmlMillions of people are learning about the heresy of this organization and are leaving the church constantly. I am not going to argue with you about Sabbath or the covenants, but I pray that you will continue to study these matters outside of this cult.
Nicole I too would encourage you to do serious research on the Seventh Day Adventist church. I was a die hard devote member for 40+ years, 3rd generation SDA, attended their school systems for 14+ years. There are some serious theological problems with that system that are direct contradictions to Scripture and turn the Gospel into another gospel. Should you want to ask questions of me about it, you can email me at [email protected]. Briefly I have no problem with someone keeping the 7th Day Sabbath, if that is meaningful to them. However for the SDA church your salvation hinges on Sabbath keeping. The problem I have with their teaching on Sabbath is that the only place you will ever find any Sabbath keeping commands is in the Old Covenant, which Hebrews 8 says is now obsolete. The NT isn’t silent on holy days, it leaves matters of holy days now up to the individual to decide for themselves (see Col. 2, Gal. 4 & Romans 14). Blessings on your journey!
Lisa, I hope you will pray and look at both sides of the issue. The SDA church is by no means perfect but I have found the message closest to Bible truth. Regarding the negative and inflammatory things spoken about Ellen White, I have never read anything that she wrote that was unscriptural and I believe God gave her some amazing inspiration to help His people in the final days of earth’s history. I am part of Doug Batchelor’s church in the Sacramento area. His ministry goes around the world to try to get the message of truth out. I challenge anyone to go to his http://www.amazingfacts.org website and read and go through the studies there. Also check the archives of his radio show on every Sunday evening at 7pm called Bible Answers Live. I hope you were able to read my testimony. I had many people against the Sabbath and telling me not to make a change in my life. The Lord spoke to me and asked me if I was going to look at both sides and pray for His wisdom. I was in college then back in 1982. I challenge you to do this and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you to all truth as it is in Jesus. We have to be so careful not to go on our own opinion and pride. If we reject a message that God is trying to give us it will be to our own hurt. I hope and pray that you will continue to be led by Him… God bless your search…He is willing and able to lead you!!
Lisa I wonder how you would reconcile these SDA teachings with Scripture:SCRIPTURE TEACHES: ”I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.” —1 John 5:13The SDA Prophet teaches you should never say you are saved or feel saved:Those who accept the Savior, however sincere their conversion, should never be taught to say or feel that they are saved. —Christ’s Object Lessons, pg. 155. “We are never to rest in a satisfied condition, and cease to make advancement, saying, ‘I am saved.’ When this idea is entertained, the motives for watchfulness, for prayer, for earnest endeavor to press onward to higher attainments, cease to exist. No sanctified tongue will be found uttering these words till Christ shall come, and we enter in through the gates into the city of God. “If we are disobedient, our characters are out of harmony with God’s moral rule of government, and it is stating a falsehood to say, ‘I am saved.’ No one is saved who is a transgressor of the law of God, which is the foundation of his government in heaven and in earth.” —Review and Herald, June 17, 1890 par. 8.“Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them. It is left with us to remedy the defects in our characters, to cleanse the soul temple of every defilement.” —Testimonies, Vol. 5, p. 214SCRIPTURE TEACHES:We are sealed while we are still dead in our sin (Eph. 1-2).The SDA Prophet teaches you cannot be sealed if one spot or stain remains on your character.“Not one of us will ever receive the seal of God while our characters have one spot or stain upon them.” (Test. V. 5, pg. 214)
We are also told in scripture to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling… and it is followed up with the fact that God is at work in us. (Phillipians 2:12,13.. there is a balance there as there was with Ellen White’s message. Sorry that some people cannot see that.
I am happy to offer you some EGW quotes:”The Lord loves those little children who try to do right, and he has promised that they shall be in his kingdom. BUT WICKED CHILDREN GOD DOES NOT LOVE. Appeal to Youth, p. 61 “”God loves honest-hearted, truthful children, BUT CANNOT LOVE THOSE WHO ARE DISHONEST. Ibid., p. 41 “”It is a sin to be sick; for all sickness is the result of transgression. Health Reformer, Aug. 1, 1866 “”"THE MAN CHRIST JESUS WAS NOT THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY” (Letter 32, 1899, quoted in the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary, vol. 5, p. 1129). Must I go on? I can…”Then I was shown a company who were howling in agony. On their garments was written in large characters, “Thou art weighed in the balance, and found wanting.” I asked who this company were. The angel said, “These are they who have once kept the Sabbath and have given it up.” I heard them cry with a loud voice, “We have believed in Thy coming, and taught it with energy.” And while they were speaking, their eyes would fall upon their garments and see the writing, and then they would wail aloud. I saw they had drunk of the deep waters, and fouled the residue with their feet — trodden the Sabbath underfoot — and that was why they were weighed in the balance and found wanting (Early Writings, p. 37)If you don’t pay tithe God may strike your favorite horse or cow dead (Test. Vol. 2, p. 661) If you don’t pay tithe church members should not pray for you when ill (Healthful Living, p. 121 “Prayer for the Sick”) If you don’t pay tithe God may not answer your prayers. (COL, p. 144) If you don’t pay tithe God won’t bless you. (CS, p. 87) If you don’t pay tithe you don’t trust God and may fall into your grave. (Test. Vol. 2, p. 199) If you don’t pay tithe the records in heaven show you are an embezzler. (Test., Vol. 3, p. 394) If you don’t pay back tithes you will be cursed of God. (TM, p. 306) If you don’t pay tithe you shouldn’t be called a Christian. (Test., Vol. 4, 476) If you don’t pay tithe you will be poverty stricken. (Test., Vol. 6, p. 449) If you don’t pay tithe you will not be worthy of everlasting life. (Test., Vol. 3, p. 408) If you don’t pay tithe the Lord will reduce your income. (Test., Vol. 4, p. 484) If you don’t tithe unfaithfulness to God is written in heavenly record. (Test., Vol. 6, p. 391) If you don’t have money for food you must endure privation and pay tithe first. (SM, Vol. 2, p. 212) If you don’t pay tithe God won’t bless you. (CS, p. 87) THE TEACHING THAT CHRIST COULD HAVE FAILED AND BEEN LOST:”Christ On Probation – For a period of time Christ was on probation. He took humanity on himself, to stand the test and trial which the first Adam failed to endure. Had he failed in His test and trial, He would have been disobedient to the voice of God, and the world would have been lost.” (SDA Bible Commentary, Volume 5, p. 1082; Signs of the Times May 10, 1869) WE CANNOT KNOW IF WE ARE SAVED:”Those who accept the Saviour, however sincere their conversion, should never be taught to say or to feel that they are saved. This is misleading. (Christ Object Lessons, page 155)”"As long as man is full of weakness–for of himself he cannot save his soul–he should never dare to say, “I am saved.” (Selected Messages, vol 1, page 314)”EGW, THE ONLY INFALIBLE INTERPRETER OF SCRIPTURE:”It is from the standpoint of the light that has come through the Spirit of Prophecy (Mrs. White’s writings) that the question will be considered, believing as we do that the Spirit of Prophecy is the only infallible interpreter of Bible principles, since it is that Christ, through this agency, giving real meaning of his own words.” (from the tract The Mark of the Beast, p. 1, G. A. Irwin, General Conference President)”EGW’S PROPHESY REPLACES JESUS, CHECK THIS OUT!”"In ancient times God spoke to men by the mouth of prophets and apostles. In these days He speaks to them by the testimonies of His Spirit.”Testimonies, Volume 4, page 147SOUND FAMILURE? OF COURSE IT DOES IF YOU READ SCRIPTURE, IT’S A RIP OFF OF HEBREWS 1:1″Long ago, at many times and in many ways God spoke to us through the prophets, but in these last days He has spoke to us by His son.”
If the 7th day sabbath was instituted at Creation then why do Seventh-day Adventists teach that God’s law is eternal? Wouldn’t it have been institued in heaven then? And why was it done on Adam …and Eve’s 2nd day of life? Also, why does Mose…s begin giving the commandments to Israel by saying that they were not a covenant for their forefathers but only for those who were there that day? Deut. 5: 2-3, ” The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. Not with our fathers did the LORD make this covenant, but with us, who are all of us here alive today.” Why does Hebrews call this covenant obsolete (8:13)? Why does 2 Corinthians call the 10 commandments the ministry of death (3:7)? Why does Galatians say that if righteousness were through the law than Christ died for nothing (2:21)? Why, after Hebrews explains that Jesus is a priest in the order of Melchizadek and not the levitical preisthood, does it say that when there is a change in the preisthood thier is a change in the law (7:12)? Why does Colossians (2:16) and Romans (14) say not to let anyone judge you concerning the sabbath, or that some say one day is more sacred than another and others regard all days the same but not to judge? Is God trying to trick or confuse us? Certainly not. It’s because we have a new covenant in the blood of Jesus. Jesus fulfilled the LAW and the PROPHETS and wrote His law on our hearts. The seventh-day Sabbath is not the seal of the new covenant, the Holy Spirit is and when we believe He dwells in our heart, just as Ephesians 1:13-14 teaches: “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…”The Sabbath was the seal of the covenant with Israel which pointed to Jesus. It was a shadow of the rest that is in the FINISHED work of our salvation to the glory of Jesus Christ alone and not our work. When we begin to rely on our own obedience in the 10 comandments for salvation we are being yoked to the false gospel that Paul is warning the church of Galtia about. When the apostle John writes, “If you love me you will keep my commands” he is not talking about the Mosaic Covenant. He uses the greek word Entole’ which means instruction. The word for the LAW of Moses in greek is Nomos. He also goes on to say that His (Jesus) commandment is that we love eachother and believe in Him. Read on, don’t stop there.Old Covenant:Entrance into covenant= circumcisionRemembrance of covenant = Sabbath keepingNew Covenant:Enrance into covenant = baptismRemembrance of covenant= the Lords SupperThe idea that the 10 commandments are the transcript of God’s character and an eternal law comes from the visions of false prophetess Ellen G. White. If the law were eternal then please explain to me why the Angels would need to be taught not to commit adultery? We know there is no giving of marriage in heaven. And why is there no record of Sabbath keeping prior to the giving of the 10 commandments? And where did God “command” Adam and eve to keep the Sabbath? He didn’t. * He* rested from His work and entered into an ongoing rest which they were a part of because of their union with God. They lost this union when they ate of the tree and left that rest. This is why in Hebrews He says that if you want to enter back into that rest then we must “believe” in Jesus and not disobey as they (Israel) did in the rebellion (when they didn’t believe God would do the work for them). It all comes down to belief. People who go to church on Sunday do not have the mark of the beast. They are not apostate protestantism, they are not going to hunt and kill sabbath worshipers. Sabbath rest is found in Jesus Christ alone. For an in depth study on how the OT points to Jesus and how Jesus is the light which created all the shadows in OT that lead to Him, including the shadow of the 7th day Sabbath say a prayer, trust God to finish what He has begun in you and read this book, http://amzn.com/0962754617A few thoughts to leave you with:1. Will you loose your salvation if you do not keep the Sabbath?2. Do you know right now if you are saved or are you waiting on the completion of an investigative judgement? (read on after John 3:16, it says that all who believe in Him will not be judged. God doesn’t lie)3. If you are honoring the Sabbath, why are you not doing it as the Israelites did? They were not allowed to leave their house. They didn’t go to the temple. There were no potlucks. And why isn’t Sabbath keeping more uniform? How do you keep it?4. Read Galtians in one sitting and see how you feel about working your way into favor with God.5. Read Hebrews 1-4. Why does the author continue to use the word “Today”?
Lisa, Nicole and Ane above have actually told you the truth…and given you some powerful references. The only way to understand the laws of the Old Testament is to understand that God promised Israel a new covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-34), and Jesus inaugurated that new covenant. Read the entire book of Galatians for a month (it’s only six chapters), and ask God to reveal to you what He knows He wants you to see. You can trust Him. You do not have to bring an “agenda” to Scripture. Just submit your mind and heart to Him, and He Himself will teach you through the word He authored.”Covenant theology” has been a traditional teaching in reformed circles, and Baptists have often understood Scripture through the lens of “covenant theology”. The NT, however, teaches that the new covenant is now here because of Jesus’ death and resurrection. The New Covenant reveals that Jesus is the fulfillment of all that was written about Him in the law, the prophets, and the Psalms (Luke 24:44). The law was given to increase sin, not to be a guide to Christians behavior. After reading Galatians and Paul’s contrast of the old covenant (Hagar) with the new covenant (Sarah), read Roman 1 through 8, slowly, prayerfully. Paul explains in minute detail how the law was given to point out sin, but Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for all who believe (Romans 10:4).With prayers for you,Colleen
Leaving the Seventh-day Adventist organization was the hardest thing I’d ever done. It was so incredibly difficult. The people there were great people, I love them very much. They do not have anything to do with me since leaving (typical behavior when someone leaves a cult) and I am sad for all of that. Jesus said anyone who would come after Him must take up their cross. I stand with Paul when he writes:”But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.8Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—” Phil. 3:7-10Also, it may be of interest to you, Lisa that the SDA’s do not believe that we are spiritual beings. They believe that we are only bodies and that the concept of having a spirit is greek mythology. This is why they must work their way to salvation, they do not understand the rebirth. Here is a great description of their stand on man:”THE WHOLENESS OF PEOPLE. In contrast to the Greek idea that has influenced many Christian thinkers down through the ages, (that we are “spirits” or “souls” that inhabit bodies) we believe that we are indeed “whole” people, with all the various aspects of our lives (physical, mental, emotional, relational, etc.) interconnected and inseparable. We don’t just have bodies, we are bodies (without a separate full consciousness apart from a real physical existence). As “whole” beings, we believe God wants to bring health to all aspects of our lives, and so Adventists have invested a lot of time and energy into medical work, education and missions (including improving the living condtions of others) as well as sharing the story of the gospel. ” <http: />If you are interested in hearing my story out of the organization you can watch it here: http://youtu.be/h33Wnw4e_xs
Because you are even considering SDA churches I submite this link. It gets far worse than this. As a high schooler I was taught in bible class that Jesus did not have the propensity to sin. All bibles say “He was tested in every way as a man.”http://www.ellenwhiteexposed.com/critics.htmI’m not even going to get into the sabbath issue but I will say research what the new moon and the sabbath have in common.
Lisa I hope you will look at that http://www.amazingfacts.org website. You will see on there Bible studies that show that the message is scriptural. I am sad that people who have had a bad experience with the church have caused dissension. God will lead you to the truth if you are open to it. Regarding the comment about Ellen White and the 1844 message that was before there even was an Adventist church. Something did happen on that date. They knew that and were very disappointed that it wasn’t what they thought. Like Bush getting the wrong intell on the nukes in Iran they didn’t knowingly lead anyone astray. When it didn’t happen the way they thought they went back and studied more to understand. God in His mercy showed them the correct interpretation… see the study http://www.amazingfacts.org/free-stuff/bible-studies/study-guides/ctl/viewmedia/mid/453/iid/2-19/lng/en/7/case-closed/sc/r.aspx and others on the website to see from your own Bible that the day is significant. God knows we are only human and make mistakes. It is our willingness to not cling to those mistakes that makes the difference. Remember Jesus said in Matthew 7 that the one who hears and does His words will be building his house on the rock. And He also said… why call me Lord Lord and do not do what I say? He had a strong message for the people that called him Lord Lord and didn’t do what He said… Also think about the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25…it does matter what we do… if we don’t know the Lord Jesus and do it by His power. I hope you will continue to seek the Lord and His way for you! God bless you and I will be praying for you too.Joanna http://www.bibleprophecytruth.com/
I would urge you to judge all by its adherence to Scripture. Period. The author that many quoted above, E.G. White said and wrote herself that if her words contradict Scripture in anyway, then we are to disregard them. She is not to be considered equal to the Bible. Anyone who tells you that Adventist Church believes otherwise is incorrect. I appreciate that many of you have been taught erroneous teachings by your local SDA church. But please don’t let your zeal in righting what you believe to be wrong interfere with this blogger’s quest for Biblical truth. Whatever axe you have to grind with the SDA church, this does not really seem the place to do it. She is simply keeping the Sabbath, in accordance with Genesis 2:3 and the 10 Commandments which God himself wrote with his own finger to give to man.
Amen L. Freeman… Thanks for that comment…. I really appreciate that so much!! http://www.bibleprophecytruth.com/
Axe to grind…bitter…bad experience…disgruntled…these are classic comments by Adventists about those of us who have studied and left. Take a look at this video: http://after7.tv/Listen, 1844 is not in scripture. The organization was offered $100,000.00 to prove it using only the Bible and they cannot. You have to take scripture out of context and use EGW to make it work. Joanna, did you read any of her quotes I shared with you above? How is it that you are not able to address the heresy?Joanna, you clearly don’t know your SDA history. They did not return to scripture for a solution to the great dissapointment of 1844. The “real event” that took place that day ( the Investigative Judgement) was given to Hiram Edson in a vision while he walked through a corn field. The vision was later confirmed by a vision “given” to EGW. There was no study involved. Furthermore, EGW blamed God for the misunderstanding claiming that He put His hand over the chart!”"We started, and while passing through a large field I was stopped about midway of the field. Heaven seemed opened to my view, and I saw distinctly and clearly that instead of our High Priest coming out of the Most Holy of the heavenly sanctuary to come to this earth on the tenth day of the seventh month, at the end of the 2300 days [calculated to be October 22, 1844], He for the first time entered on that day the second apartment of that sanctuary; and that He had a work to perform in the Most Holy before coming to the earth.” F. D. Nichol. The Midnight Cry. p. 458.”The Lord showed me that … His hand was over and hid a mistake in some of the figures, so that none could see it, until his hand was removed.” (Review and Herald, Nov 1, 1850) Regarding whether or not SDA’s consider EGW to be a prophet, she said she was more than a prophet. That statement is only in scripture when Jesus said that about John the Baptist! Further, see these quotes:FUNDAMENTAL (meaning, you have to believe this to join) Belief # 18 taken from their official website: http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.html“18. The Gift of Prophecy:One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . As the Lord’s messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. ” They have cannonized her. See their work on the Clear Word:<http: />L Freeman, nothing I posted above is from my local SDA church, I posted quotes from your messenger. Read them, take them one by one and show us the truth of them from the word of God.
Please go to the http://www.amazingfacts.org website and look at their belief statements and bible studies. http://www.bibleprophecytruth.com/
This is from EGW saying that even if someone were to come to you with SCRIPTURE, if it should shake one pillar of “Adventist Present Truth” it MUST be denied.When the power of God testifies to what is truth, the truth is to stand forever as the truth. No after suppositions, contrary to the light God has given are to be entertained. Men will arise with interpretations of Scripture which are to them truth, but which are not truth. The truth for this time, God has given us as a foundation for our faith. He Himself has taught us what is truth. One will arise and still another with new light which contradicts the light that God has given under the demonstration of His Holy Spirit. A few are still alive who passed through the experience gained in the establishment of this truth. God has graciously spared their lives to repeat and repeat till the close of their lives, the experience through which they passed even as did John the apostle till the very close of his life. And the standard bearers who have fallen in death, are to speak through the reprinting of their writings. I am instructed that thus voices are to be heard. They are to bear their testimony as to what constitutes the truth for this time. We are not to receive the words of those who come with a message that contradicts the special points of our faith. They gather together a mass of Scripture, and pile it as proof around their asserted theories. This has been done over and over again during the past fifty years. And while the Scriptures are God’s Word, and are to be respected, the application of them, if such application moves one pillar of the foundation that God has sustained these fifty years, is a great mistake. He who makes such an application knows not the wonderful demonstration of the Holy Spirit that gave power and force to the past messages that have come to the people of God. {PH020 14.2}
Joanna, Amazing facts is not the official teaching of Adventism. If you have been an Adventists as long as you say you then you know very well that there are many brands of Adventism– but the same roots and heresy lie at the foundation of all of them.
Lets deal with the facts I have provided you before we start throwing muc. What is your response to the quotes provided you by your prophetess? This is not done to fight against you Joanna or anyone else. This is to show you that those who leave do so because they have done the work to study. We have suffered through the processes of realizing we were brainwashed, and lied to. That we believed heresy and we have repented. The “axe to grind” as you call it, is simply contending for the faith. Jesus Christ is God, always has been and always will be. He was not elevated to the God head as EGW says He was. He never was the angel Michael. He could not have failed because God cannot sin. He finished His work and we may know we have eternal life IF we beleive in the “WORD OF TRUTH” about the gospel of our salvation. Not any random gospel preached by a “messenger of light”. “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.” 2 Cor 11:13-15″ But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8-9

@nicolefaith – my words may have seemed dismissive and rude, and that was not my intention. I was hoping to get the focus back to the Scripture. If you would like to email me direct, I would love to discuss your thoughts and positions further. But Let’s not allow a disagreement about Adventism to overshadow the blogger’s spiritual journey, when she is not shopping for a new church! She is just trying to keep all 10 Commandments.
I have no desire to communicate privately with you. I realize that you are worried here about the reputation of your church, but in fact she is looking for a place to fellowship among sabbatarians and it is my obligation to share what I know. This conversation never began between you and I so your attempts to avoid addressing the issues and simply “deal” with the one upsetting the apple cart have failed. My focus is scripture– the SDA’s is not. I am simply exposing that. You are taking the mosaic covenant out of context and trying to yoke a believer with a different gospel. Our Sabbath rest is continual in Christ. If she desires to observe the Jewish Sabbath there is nothing wrong with that, as long as it isn’t about an attempt to attain or maintain salvation as the SDA doctrine teaches. I have said my piece and provided more information that anyone should need with a seeking heart that desires to live in truth and act in integrity. It is no shock to me that no Adventist has been willing to address the quotes provided above.I pray always for the Adventist people. I will not stop either.
L Freeman … I think we’ve all made it clear our concern isn’t over whether or not this lady keeps Sabbath … Our concern is her looking to the SDA church for guidance. For us to sit here and say nothing about the gospel according to Adventism is like knowing the bridge is out up ahead and we continue to let people drive up a dark road anyway.Joanna, I’ve heard Doug Batchelor himself say that if he ever found anything more true than Adventism, he would leave to join it. We’ve simply taken his advice. We have found something more grounded in truth than Adventism.
Lisa, I know how it feels to swim upstream, I mean against the normal of the majority. However when Yahovah begins to awaken you to His commands, instructions and guidance (Torah) which is known as the first five books of the bible but really is expressed and seen from Genesis to Revelation. I have been honoring the Shabbat for the last 2 years and it has been an amazing transition and experience for me and my family. You know understanding the impact and the blessings of honoring Yahovah’s found in the Old Testament has been life-changing. Some of the key things that we had to learned is that we get to do His commands, that they are not about works but about worship, about obedience. That they have nothing to do with going to heaven or hell, but about my lifestyle as a redeemed believer here on earth For the highest heavens belong to God but the earth he gave to the sons of man (Psalms 115:16), so we have been given instructions and guidance primarily found in Genesis to Deut, but lived out and fulfilled throughout the whole bible, if Yeshua honored the Torah and the Sabbath, how can we who are supposed to be his disciples dishonored and disobey His word. So be encouaged my sister, there is a movement, an awakening taking place in the earth. People are awakening from the dead (walking outside of Torah) and being resurrected to return to Yahovah orignal plan and purpose (Isaiah 46:10).
Wow! I was very overwhelmed to find these comments today! I have no doubt that every one of you is sincere about your convictions and I realize you share these things out of concern for my future decisions.I will take into consideration what has been shared. But let me assure you that my family trys to make decisions by looking at all information from all sides and testing it against God’s Word. Then we back it up through the leading of the Holy Spirit. So I will very politely say, enough has been said on this issue. I don’t want my site to be a place for arguing and debating with one another. Any future arguments will be deleted and blocked.Thank you for respecting this and for your concern!
My comment just now was strictly concerning the comments about the SDA church. I thought I’d better clarify!

Blessings on your journey Lisa!
I urge you to proceed cautiously and with much prayer. The SDA church has gotten a lot of attention in this thread, but there are many out there who seek to bring people into their own version of a modern day Galatian heresy. Know and understand your hermeneutic, be it covenant theology, new covenant theology, or dispensational theology. Most importantly, make sure you never lose sight of the gospel message! As for keeping the Sabbath, there are four different views out there on how to do this (it is not as simple as a Saturday vs. Sunday issue that some like to make it). This paper is a rather interesting read on the subject:http://www.wordofhisgrace.org/christiansabbath.pdfScripture advises us that this is an issue of personal choice (Romans 14 for instance) so long as we are not elevating it to the importance of being salvific (Galatians for example). My personal choice has been the “God’s rest fulfillment” view. I have no problem with others choosing a different view than mine as long as they do not try to make it an issue of salvation.
Well said Michael!
Michael I just finished reading the article you posted above. That’s how I understand it as well after evaluating all the different Sabbath theories. Found this article to be informative and even learned a few things I didn’t know yet. Thanks for sharing it. What a valuable tool.
This does not need to be posted here, but I don’t know how to send you a personal message. I just wanted to say that I am proud of you for taking the view that you will study all things by the Word of God. That is what God wants us to do.I also just wanted to give you the heads up that I checked the “quotes” that Nicole posted (by a program that I have that lets me read those passages) and the ones I bothered to check were not accurate. Whether or not they are from God is another matter that must be determined separately, but it is easy to read them and determine whether or not they say what someone claims they say. Like you said, we should all study all things by God’s Word. After all, there were those who claimed Jesus was God incarnate and those who claimed He was a blasphemer. The only way to know for sure is to explore His claims, and test Him by every word of God. We then apply the same principle to every teaching. When we do that, regardless of what we learn, we grow closer to God, which is really what the Sabbath is all about. I hope and pray God will continue to bless you as you seek a closer walk every day.
CD, I am not being argumentative, I am being genuine here. Will you please share with me the quotes that I shared which were wrong. I certainly want to know the truth as much as anyone here. Will you help me out by pointing them out to me. Also, what program are you referring to? I don’t want to be guilty of spreading false information.
Lisa,If you desire to keep a Sabbath to the Lord that is terrific! But I must earnestly caution you to stay away from the Seventh Day Adventist church. They talk a good game by luring folks in with the Sabbath, but if you study into their core beliefs and their prophetess’ teachings you will find that they preach a false and demonic doctrine of works and perfection to be saved. Most evangelicals consider them a cult.
sabbath keeper here as well, faced opposition from others on this my entire life. i found that this resistance from other people on what I BELIEVE is a part of the test. keep strong, God will reward you for it. it may not be immediately, and the reward is not why we do it, it is to prove our steadfastness and desire to follow him fully, not just in the ways convenient to us.
Lisa G, I wanted to give you a resource so that you can look up the quotes yourself instead of taking my word or anyone elses word for it. https://egwwritings.org/Praying for you as you study.
Hey Nicole Hi nicole I’m Cherelle and since the first day I came on here all I see here is you and I gotta ask why is this so important to lead this family to sda if they want to do it this way then let them hey I understand that you believe that by doing this that your saving them and I get that but ask ur self this is this what lisa wants for her and her family and are u doing god a great serves but getting on this womans nerves by trying to convert her and she dont want to go that way look God spoke to her and told her to do this or she wood have been won over by now so just stop and let God do this we are choosen by him and him only I used to be sda but God open my mind to doing his whole sabbath and laws and my is at peace now but what you are doing here is not right and you need to give her some space to breath but what if you r wrong about everything your telling her then you would being that person that jesus is talking about in matt.5:17-21 and he not playing with people like that tht blind and dont know the real truth if you want me to show you anything just inbox me and ill anwser anything you ask but u must have an open mine first and pray for bible truth . I say this cus I care not cus I hate cus I dont so let me know.
Interestingly, since it was brought up, Mat 5:17-20 refers to all of the law/torah (613 commands), every jot ant tittle, not just the 10C. In this passage there is no contextual reason to remove the “ceremonial” portion while keeping the “moral” portion intact. Either we are under all of it, or “everything is accomplished”. Those are the two possibilities the passage gives. Given what Jesus Himself says in Luk 24:44-48, I believe everything has been accomplished. Notice the law and prophets wording… this is also found in Romans 3:21.Personally I find this good news! The law is magnified so much in Mat chapters 5-7 that there is no way we could keep it by our own effort. The law served its purpose to convict us of sin (Gal 3:19-26, Rom 5:20-21) and to bring us to Jesus. Today we have the Holy Spirit to guide us instead of 613 commands (or 10 of the 613 commands). Like Paul in Romans 14 and Colossians 2, I’m fully convinced that special days are not an issue for Christians under the new covenant. I don’t intend to be divisive about it though… if the author wants to keep a sabbath day then that is her choice. I only urge caution because I know that, just as in Paul’s day, there are groups today who are eager to mislead away from the simple gospel using these peripheral issues. Regardless what the name is on the building (SDA has gotten the attention in this thread but they are not the only ones), if this is the spirit of any group then don’t walk… run far away!Michael
@Cherelle, Nicole is actually counseling her to stay away from the SDA, not to join them.@Nicole, Thank you for sharing that link. We have been asked not to make this issue the focus of this blog and I wish to honor that request. If you are sincere, I suggest you do as we all should do before making any decisions: go back and read each “quote” for ourselves. If you read them in the right Spirit, God will make it obvious where errors lie or where truth is revealed.@all, Blessings to all who seek to study and know truth and to grow closer to Jesus day by day. The more we study, the more we get to know the one who authors all truth. It is all about building that relationship with our Creator and Redeemer.
I reviewed Matthew 5:17-20, and it says that “…Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”Since heaven and earth have not passed, then it would appear that his law has not changed. Perhaps this does mean the Mosaic law too. I don’t think so, but this is not about what I think, it’s about what the Word says. I am just beginning my study on this topic. With regard to works for salvation, being under grace means that we don’t keep God’s commandments because we have to or we perish. It means that we keep them because we love and want to obey God, whom we have accepted as our personal Savior. That is how I have always approached it. Jesus said “if you love me, keep my commandments,” John 14:15. This is why I find it hard to reconcile willfully ignoring one of his commandments that I see as such to be contradictory to being under grace. Has anyone ever heard anything about keeping the full Mosaic law (minus sacrifices, of course)? Any Bible verses would be welcome.
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; *I* have not come to abolish them but to *fulfill them*. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished.” The law is not the 10c. It is the Torah. There are prohesies and promises in the Torah that are not fulfilled yet. This passage speaks to the credability of scripture, it’s an amazing thing! Jesus is promising that God will preserve His scriptures for all of time *and* fufill all of his promises! I love it!Romans 10:35 says, “For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” Jesus fulfilled the law *and* the prophets. Our salvation is sealed in Him. Nothing we do outside of believing will obtain or maintain our right standing with God because we have an eternal high priest. The 10 commandments were one of many covenants God made with people in the OT. They were made to the Israelites, not the gentiles. Galatians is clear that we are children of the promise through the covenant of Abraham, and not moses. It is through faith we are saved, not tedious law keeping. The word commandments is not a pro noun for the 10c. It means instructions. Jesus had many commandments but if we believe we are spiritual israel and that we were ever yoked to the israel covenant it would be easy to believe that this means the 10 commandments. Do a study on the greek, you will see the word used is entole, and not nomos (the law of moses). If you read on in John Jesus defines his commandments as loving our neighbor and believing in Him.Jesus elevated the 10c in the sermon on the mount. He also said be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect. He was showing us God’s standard. After the cross and pentecost He revealed to us that by believing in Him, the only righteous perfect one, we are spiritually brought to life and imputed with Christ’s righteousness, the only way into Heaven. Jesus was showing us our need for profection, then He made a way to make us perfect– by putting on Christ. Please, will someone read Hebrews 1-4 and help me see from that passage that believers are to observe the 7th day Sabbath? What do you all do with Romans 14 and Colos. 2:16?What if placing your trust in keeping the “right” day is destracting you from trusting Christ alone? If you stop going to church on Saturday, will you be saved?
Did I really just read that someone believes that all was not accomplished on the cross?!?! That suggestion makes Jesus Himself a liar in Luke 24! Wow… just wow. That speaks volumes in itself.Consider this similar sentence:”I tell you, until hell freezes over, I’m not leaving the house until the laundry is done.” On the basis of how you read Mat 5:17-20, you would read this as “hell hasn’t frozen over so therefore the laundry isn’t done”, which, of course, misses the point entirely. Jesus is not saying that the law will stand as long as the heaven and earth are still here. He is saying that it stands until everything is accomplished. He is saying that He didn’t come to do away with the law but to be the fulfillment of it. The law with all of its regulations and ceremonies points toward Christ. The cross event is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets. As a side note, the Jewish “Tanakh” [Bible] was at that time and is still today divided into three groupings: 1) The law [troah], 2) The prophets [nevi'im], and 3) the writings/psalms [ketuvim]; this is what is being referred to in Mat 5, Luke 24, and Romans 3. The law spoken of can only be the entire torah in these contexts. Just to be clear, Jesus emphasized “every jot and tittle”. This is an all or nothing proposition. I feel led to share Mat 19:16-26 to further illustrate this point. If one reads this passage and stops at the end of verse 19 (proof texters love doing this), then one will say “ah ha! Look! He says we must keep the ten commandments to earn eternal life!” Don’t get too excited because there is more to the scripture if you keep reading. In verses 20-24 Jesus addresses the real issue: the rich young man’s heart. This directly parallels what Jesus was doing in Mat 5-7. The Pharisees did keep the law, every jot and tittle, but as is obvious from scripture their hearts were filthy. Jesus points this out in Mat 5-7. The same can be said for the rich young man in Mat 19. He kept the law, but that wasn’t the point. Verses 25 and 26 get at the heart of the gospel message. It is not about us and what we can do. We can’t earn salvation. It is impossible! Only through God is it possible. This is why we need Jesus. Now, does no longer being under the old covenant law mean that we can go off and sin freely? No. For starters, once we have the Holy Spirit leading us why would we want to? Paul addresses this throughout the book of Romans (Romans 6 specifically, but it is even richer within the context of the entire book). We are now under something new called the “law of Christ” (John 13:34-35, Gal 5:13-18). We are not still under the old covenant law. See also 2 Cor 3:1-18 and Gal 4:21-31 for an even clearer contrast of the old versus the new. and how we relate to them.I’ll step away now and let the blog get back on topic (the keeping of a special day). I just couldn’t stand aside while the gospel message was trampled on so badly by minimizing what Christ accomplished. This is the very thing I was just urging caution on! I repeat, if the author wants to keep a special day then that is her choice, but I urge caution because there is a lot of bad theology out there surrounding this very issue.
L Freeman … In understanding Matthew 5:17-20 … what exactly does the phrase “Jesus came to FULFILL the law” mean? Was Jesus the complete fulfillment of the 613 Mosaic laws (of which the 10 commandments were a part of)? If so, when did He fulfill it? And how LONG was the Mosaic law suppose to be in effect after He fulfilled it? (Gal. 3:19)”Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions … UNTIL the seed would come to whom the promise had been made.”Since the Seed has come are we still under any part of those 613 Mosaic commands in the law? (Gal. 3:24-25)”So the law was our guardian UNTIL Christ came that we might be justified by faith. Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.”Does that mean Christians no longer have any commands to follow?Of course not!Now instead we have to look to the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles, not Moses, to see what they taught. If you can find evidence in their teachings, that emphasizes any of those 613 commands (of which the 10 commandments where also a part of) … then you be right, to continue observing those commands. NOT as means of salvation, but because Jesus saw something of value in those commands that enhances our lives and makes us the most effective kingdom builders possible. It also doesn’t work to say Jesus kept the Sabbath, so we should too.1. If He is our example of what holy days to keep, we should be keeping them all, because Jesus kept them all. 2. Even after Jesus fulfilled the law, His Apostles continued observing certain holy days other than Sabbath, is that proof that we should keep them too?The question is … after the law was fulfilled … what evidence do we have from Jesus or His Apostles that they ever mandated a continuance of Sabbath or any of the other holy days from the Old Mosaic Law?To date, I can’t find any direct command from them to observe any specific holy day. Instead whenever the issue of holy days comes up we are told the observance of them is no longer mandatory (see Col. 2, Gal. 4, Rom. 14).
Yes, Michael, that is very well explained. And one more comment about the rich young ruler passage in Matthew 19: Jesus hit the “nail on the head” exactly when he pointed out that the young man’s meticulous law-keeping was not able to qualify him for eternal life. That young man had to surrender and give up what he loved the most in order to follow Jesus. The point of Jesus’ telling him to sell everything and follow him was not to establish yet another rule for how we follow Jesus; the point was that we have to give up what we love, what identifies us, in order to know Jesus. Sometimes those “riches” we cherish are our belief system, our understanding of things. But reality is not in our head; it’s in Scripture, and only the Author of Scripture can reveal it to us.
hi lisa this is cherelle and I’m sorry say this blogg has became violent and its rude and every one on here are not trying to respect ur views on what you blieve so im going to take my name off your list because I thought this was a place to be encourage and up lifted and happyness but all I’ve seen is bible battle with you or another blogger and it wrong so I dont want to be apart of it any longer so nothing against you just the other blogger on here so I will keep u in my prayers that u stay strong in your faith its the right place to be so I wish you and urs well in ur search bye for nowCherelle.
Forgive me for not understanding, but how is answering L Freeman’s question violent and rude? Why is it offense to reason with each other regarding Scripture?
This has been an interesting week of comments! I wish I had time to address each of you, one by one. But I will have to settle for addressing more on this in my next blog.I do feel it’s important for me to answer Angelica’s question regarding how to share your beliefs with your sister and her family. Angelica- I am just beginning my journey of sharing with my Baptist friends about my family choosing to keep the Sabbath. My approach is simply to share if the opportunity presents itself-never forcing the issue. I can only share what God laid on my heart. When you share with the right attitude, they are more likely to hear you. And you said you are already praying for God to speak truth to them, which is a great prayer for anyone! I hope that helps!
These churches are completely non-biblical.
Imagine you are deeply in debt and a rich man comes along and offers to take care of your debts. Let’s say he just tears up your bills and throws them away. Technically he has destroyed your bills but he has not paid them so you still owe. On the other hand, let’s say that he actually pays (fulfills) the debts. Now you are no longer in debt, you no longer owe the money. You are free. This is the meaning of Jesus’ statement, “I did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. He didn tear up the law, He fulfilled it and now we are free to live in a new covenant bought and paid for by Jesus Christ and His blood on the cross. This is good news. We are truly blessed to live this new life in Christ no longer as slaves but as sons and daughters… as joint heirs.
I’m glad you found the Sabbath, but most importantly keep your relationship with God and He will lead you toward His true way. The SDA church isn’t the only one that keeps the Sabbath, there are also Seventh-day Baptists which may work even better for your family seeing that your husband is a Baptist minister.May God bless you on this God-lead path in your life.
Baruch HaShem (Praise the Name of God) that you have seen a more complete truth about keeping the Commandments. It is a wonderful thing. I am the rabbi of a Messianic congregation in Fresno, California. Let me warn you against the SDA Church: they are officially opposed to keeping the commandments outside of the Sabbath. They have their own traditions (such as vegetarianism) that they have substituted for the other commandments. While individuals are “allowed” to keep them, you cannot serve in leadership if you keep them. There’s a group in the area of SDAs that want to keep the annual festivals and they do so in direct opposition of the SDA leadership. As for the Messianic home group you mentioned, did you suggest they start a Shabbat school? If there’s no one individual to lead it, a lot of groups have members (or just the parents) rotate by the week, so no one person has to miss services all the time.If you want to talk about any of these issues, I’d be glad to talk to you by e-mail or phone. My number is on the website.Let Us Exalt His Name Together!Adam J. BernayRabbiBeit Tefillah Messianic FellowshipFresno, California
Lisa,Your blog is now and will continue to be a blessing and encouragement to others. I would like to suggest a great teaching website for following the “whole Word of God.” It is 119 Ministries, at http://www.testeverything.net —you will be blessed and encouraged by the many teachings there. They are also on FB. Please know that none of the so-called “Old” Testament has been made obsolete by the book of Hebrews, or Paul, or anyone else in the “New” Testament!! Amos 3:7 says that God will not do anything without first telling his prophets…and no where in the Prophets will we find that He had plans to change or discontinueHis Sabbath & other Feasts, You and many others like you are part of the ‘restoration’ that our Savior told us would occur prior to His return! Halliluyah!!
I would encourage you to try the Adventist church again also. There are usually several in most communities and they vary. Some have child care, some do not. Some have a contemporary worship service with contemporary music, some do not. It’s about finding the church that God is calling you to. Do not give up. If you have questions, you can contact me or you can get more info from our church’s website – http://bath22.adventistchurchconnect.org/ Blessings!
REVELATION 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.REVELATION 22:10 And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. 11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. 12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. 17And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. 18For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. 20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. 21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
To encourage you:John 15:10If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.
Hi Lisa,I’ve been following your blog, & I have really enjoyed what you have had to say; however, that being said, I’m so sorry it has been polluted by perhaps some well intentioned people that seem to be speaking from more of a hate perspective, than a help one. Please consider the comments you’ve read, with the definition of this word in mind:apostatenoun1. a person who forsakes his religion, cause, party, etc.adjective2. of or characterized by apostasy.May God continue to bless you in your journey for the truth, as you continue to honor His word by keeping His Sabbath day holy.
Actually the Prophet Jeremiah prophesied a New Covenant was coming that would NOT be like the Old Covenant God made with Israel (see Jer. 31:31-34).Since the Old Covenant is the ONLY place that holy days commands exist, and since the Old Covenant is now obsolete (Hebrews 8:13) and since Hebrews 1:1-2 teaches that God doesn’t speak to us any longer like He did to Israel, through OT type prophets … then that would mean that now we have to look to the teachings of Jesus and His Apostles to determine whether or not any or all of the holy days are still binding on believers who are now under the New Covenant instead.

My mistake, I did once post here long ago. I was trying to discontinue what I thought to be a spam. That said I am not in agreement with any sabbath keeping. Keeping the sabbath is just one of 613 laws or rules given to the Isrealites as their part of the old covenant. The ten comandments are the center peice of that covenant. At the Council of Neice the catholic church broke the law into Three catagorys. Cival, Moral and Cerimonial. Some churches subsequently have decided that certain laws have been done away with and that others have not and they are not nessecarily in agreement about what laws belong where. God never devided the law into categorys that has been man and man alone. The law has been written on our hearts, (we all know not to kill etc without being told.) The law as a way to live has been done away with as it brings death. We now live by faith and grace and it is a simple life. I choose to boycott any church that picks and chooses what law to keep when it has all (613) so clearly bee disposed of.
dbsnova … it sounds like you and I are in agreement then.
Yes, Indeed we are in agreement. The bible is very clear. When people try to retain old ways (Jews, sdas, Mormons, Catholics and jw's to name a few) or focus on one part of the scripture, they start to mickey mouse scripture to have their way. I am opposed to anyone who is opposed to letting the New Covenant stand on it's own as it was intended.,
